Who is Hugo?
I’m a director, photographer and cinematographer based in the Netherlands.
With a background in film from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, my work moves between commissioned and autonomous projects, always driven by atmosphere, rhythm and tactility.
I create visual stories that touch the surface, but speak from underneath. Whether in stills or moving image, my focus lies in building tension, evoking emotion, and working with the physical presence of bodies, objects, and light.
My photography has been exhibited internationally, including solo shows in Gouda Rotterdam and Paris, group exhibitions in Paris FR, Bouffémont FR, Milan IT, Venice IT (during the Biennale), Arles FR, the Isle of Man UK and the Philadelphia Art Center USA.
