A small, intimate work in an antique gilded frame.

The image shows a nude figure standing in a dim, golden interior, her face partly hidden by a pale mask or butterfly-like form. The body is visible, but the person remains unreachable. What is revealed also withdraws.

The photograph is printed on delicate Japanese paper and mounted by hand, then worked over with layers of gold, medium, oil and varnish. The surface carries visible texture, small imperfections and traces of the making process. Up close, the image begins to dissolve into grain, gold, skin and shadow.

This is a unique piece, not an edition.
